Registrations of new cars in the EU have increased by 1.4 percent, according to statistics for January–November, compared to the same period in 2024. A total of 9,970,092 cars have been registered this year.
Gasoline and diesel cars are losing popularity, while new registrations of pure electric cars have increased by 27.6 percent so far this year compared to the same period last year. Regular hybrid cars have increased by 14.5 percent and so-called plug-in hybrids have increased by 33.1 percent.
Plug-in hybrids accounted for just over 9 percent of all newly registered cars during the first eleven months of the year, compared with 7 percent during the same period last year.
Electric cars accounted for 17 percent, gasoline and diesel cars for 36 percent and regular hybrid cars for 35 percent.
New registrations of Volvo cars have fallen by about 16 percent so far this year, compared to the same period last year. For Tesla, the drop is 39 percent.
Chinese BYD has increased by 240 percent.
