Pihlström won the race in a time of 7:44.94, which is the second-fastest time by a Swede over the indoor distance. Only Andreas Almgren has run faster.
"Absolutely magical. Starting the season now with 3,000 and doing it this way," says Bergqvist.
The runner-up in the race, Jonathan Grahn, also ran fast - in 7:45.97, the third-fastest time ever by a Swede. It is also a new junior record.
"He has been one of our most promising juniors and has had to struggle a bit, but now it feels like he is taking a big step in his development," says Bergqvist.
Sweden won the Nordic Championship against Norway and Finland in both the men's and women's competitions.
