Rajoub was at the World Cup premiere in Mexico on Thursday night. He also planned to watch World Cup matches in the United States. But for now, he remains in Mexico City as he, along with several other accredited people, has not yet received a visa.
"I don't think it's fair to deny the right of football people from all over the world to go to the World Cup," said Jibril Rajoub, who is also a senior figure in the Palestinian Fatah party.
The US State Department has not responded to questions about Jibril Rajoub's visa, but says that a year ago it imposed new entry restrictions on people with Palestinian passports, including people employed by Palestinian authorities.
