The man is considered a key figure in a criminal network in Stockholm County and has been abroad in recent years.
The arrest took place on Thursday morning in cooperation with Europol and Romanian police. The man is considered a high-priority person, "that is, the driving force behind the serious and systemic violence," the police write on their website.
"The arrest shows once again that it is becoming increasingly difficult for criminals to hide abroad," says Johan Rydwik, deputy head of the regional investigation unit in the Stockholm police region, in a statement.
