At least 45 of these were killed when they tried to get hold of emergency aid, according to sources. Among other things, fire was opened at the heavily criticized Israeli-American organization Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's distribution sites, where a large number of people have been shot dead in recent months.
According to Gaza's civil defense, also controlled by the terrorist-stamped Hamas, twelve people were killed in an attack on a school in Gaza City that served as protection for people on the run. The authority's representative Mohammed al-Mughayyir tells the news agency AFP that most of them were women and children.
Israel's military has so far not commented on the attacks, but tells AFP that they will "investigate" the reports.
A further 15 people were killed in an air raid on tents in al-Mawasi, where Palestinians live tightly packed in a small area under very provisional conditions. The area has been classified by Israel as a "humanitarian zone", but has been bombed several times, with many fatalities as a result.
The war in Gaza began after Hamas terrorist attacks in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, when around 1,200 people were killed and around 250 were taken hostage. Since then, over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks, according to authorities in Gaza.
