Last Thursday, two buses were stopped on a highway in Ukraine. On board were gold and cash worth almost SEK 750 million, which were on their way to war-torn Ukraine.

Hungary has decided that the assets will be seized for up to 60 days while the country's tax authorities investigate suspected money laundering.

Ukraine describes it as a routine cash transport and accuses Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of exploiting the situation for political gain.

Hungary is blocking EU aid to Ukraine and has accused Ukraine of slowing Hungarian imports of Russian oil.

Seven bank employees were arrested in Thursday's raid. They were allowed to leave Hungary after diplomatic efforts.
