Oil Tanker from the Shadow Fleet Operates in the Baltic Sea

The 274-meter-long tanker Eventin has been experiencing problems with maneuverability. The Panama-flagged vessel had loaded oil in the Russian Baltic Sea port of Ust-Luga before setting out to sea on January 6 with Egypt as its destination.

Tugboats have been sent to assist the oil tanker, but according to German authorities, there is currently no acute danger to the environment or the crew on board.

According to German media, Eventin is on the Green Party environmental organization's list of vessels in the Russian shadow fleet intended to circumvent global sanctions.

The German Foreign Ministry also links Eventin to the shadow fleet.

Annalena Baerbock condemns Russia for "ruthlessly deploying a fleet of rusty tankers". She calls it a threat to both the environment and security in the region, reports news agency AFP.
