As the world's highest-valued company, with a market value of over 4,400 billion dollars, the company weighs heavily in both an American and global index – where Nvidia is over five percent in the latter. If you save in a global fund, it means that a twentieth of your money is invested in Nvidia.
If you have an index fund that invests as the stock market looks, then Nvidia is the largest holding, says Maria Landeborn, Danske Bank's senior strategist, and continues:
Of course, if it goes significantly worse for Nvidia, it's a risk. But as it has looked over the past two years, it has been fantastic for Swedish savers.
Affects pensions
The six million Swedes who have not made any active premium pension choice have their premium pension in the Seventh AP Fund, also called the "couch potato fund". The fund portfolio AP 7 Såfa consists of a bond fund and a stock fund, where the latter is a global index fund. There, Nvidia is the largest holding, with 4.6 percent.
Since so many Swedes have so much money in the Seventh AP Fund, it affects our future pension how Nvidia goes, says Landeborn.
The number of Nvidia owners at Avanza is 88,000, with a median holding worth just over 15,000 kronor. The number of Swedish Nvidia owners at Nordnet is around 12,000.
Determines the mood
Nvidia's report is also important for the other tech giants and for the AI hype, which has been a locomotive on the American stock market in recent years. The company may set the tone for the entire stock market mood, according to Frida Bratt, savings economist at Nordnet.
If it turns out that Nvidia comes up with a report that is a disappointment, then perhaps the AI race will be questioned even more, she says.
Savers should be aware of this vulnerability. If your holdings are heavily weighted towards American tech companies, it may be good to complement with something else, Bratt means.
Nvidia will release its interim report today, at 10 PM Swedish time.
