The lockout, which came into effect on Saturday, was announced in response to an ongoing strike by several hundred members of the Safe union.
The strike and lockout could result in the country's oil and gas production decreasing by approximately 12,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day next week, according to the industry organization Offshore Norway, which announced the lockout.
If the strike continues, the organization warns that the consequences could be even greater after mid-July - with production losses of 120,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Safe began the strike on June 15 after failing to reach a wage agreement.
