Executions are taking place despite Northvolt having money in the bank.

For example, the Enforcement Authority made an execution as recently as Tuesday of 4.8 million kronor to be paid to companies that have claims against Northvolt.

According to Northvolt, the outstanding payments are due to the ongoing reconstruction process in the USA.

"Due to the commitments Northvolt has under the Chapter 11 procedure in the USA, it is not possible to pay old debts," writes Communications Manager Matti Kataja in an email to TT.

Northvolt applied for bankruptcy protection in a Texas court last autumn with a total debt of 60 billion kronor. The company aims to complete the reconstruction in the USA during the first quarter of the year.

Last year was marked by soaring losses, production problems, scrapped major investments, and layoffs. Earlier in January, Northvolt received the green light from its owners to continue operating.
