Ystad District Court acquits all nine people who were charged with paying and receiving bribes.

Benefits in the form of trips to Germany and restaurant dinners have been provided by employees of a security company to people within the state and municipality, but these have not been improper benefits, the court believes.

"To be punishable, an act must be clearly outside the limits of what is acceptable," comments the court's chairman, Councilor Niklas Eriksson, in a press release.

Originally, ten people were charged, but during the trial, the suspicions against one of the defendants were dropped. Ystads Allehanda has previously reported.

Five of those involved worked for the security company Stanley Security. They were charged with bribing two employees of Ystad Municipality and two at the Swedish National Board of Institutions (Sis).

The value of the trips and dinners was not very large, but the prosecutor noted that they were recurring and that they were important for the agreements signed with the security company.

The defense attorneys, for their part, argued that the benefits provided fall within the scope of external representation.
