Blekinge Hospital believes that the doctor has performed operations on incorrect or questionable grounds.

A woman who had her healthy uterus removed wanted to have more children and has since suffered from PTSD and depression after the operation.

Empty, tearful, disappointed in the healthcare system. He works with people, it's not machines he's making mistakes on, she says to P4.

Three of the women are said to have sought care for prolapse. This may require the uterus to be operated on, but does not necessarily do so. In all three cases, the doctor chose to remove the uterus without addressing the prolapse.

The doctor was banned in 2023 from performing similar operations alone and has now resigned.

However, Ivo has made the assessment that there is no reason to question the chief physician's license.

The hospital does not rule out that more people may have been affected.

Earlier this fall, it was revealed that 33 women had their uterus unnecessarily removed at Akademiska Hospital in Uppsala in 2023 and 2024. The revelation has received significant attention and has led, among other things, to the government appointing a national survey of the assessment of precursors to uterine cancer.

Corrected: An earlier version contained an incorrect description of the hospital's and Ivo's assessment.
