Shipping giants such as MSC, Maersk, CMA-CGM, and Hapag-Lloyd have also started moving truckloads from ports in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Oman to terminals in Saudi Arabia, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.
The price of a container on the Shanghai–Persian Gulf route rose to $4,131 on Friday, up from $980 before the US and Israel began bombing Iran on February 28, according to analyst firm Clarksons Research. During the container chaos of the 2021 pandemic, the price peaked at $3,960.
