The world market price of the industrial metal copper has risen to a new historic high of just over $11,350 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Increased order intake is lifting the price in a rebound after a slump on Monday, which followed several trading days marked by price increases.

The price of copper has risen by over 25 percent since the turn of the year, overshadowed by the precious metals gold and silver, both as a result of tariff effects and concerns about reduced production.

Copper is used in electronics and demand has increased in the ongoing global electrification.
