Earlier this year, Ekot reported on how ministers participated in government decisions concerning companies in which they or their close associates own shares.
Several ministers have been criticized and three have been reported to the Riksdag's Constitutional Committee.
The Government Offices have now developed new guidelines for ministers' shareholdings.
Among other things, they state that it can often be good if ministers refrain from owning shares in individual companies. If a minister does have shares, the person should never participate in the preparation or decision-making that affects that company.
The new guidelines also state that a conflict of interest can arise in decisions that do not apply to a specific company but that still affect it, for example by benefiting the industry.
