The airport in Liège, Belgium, has been closed to traffic after an unidentified drone was spotted in the airspace, Belgian media report.

It is said to be a drone that was seen near the logistics company Fedex facility, writes the newspaper Le Soir.

The data comes after a week of multiple drone alerts.

On Tuesday, air traffic in Belgium was halted for a long time after drones were spotted near the airports in Brussels and Liège. There were also reports of unidentified drones over Belgium over the weekend, including near a military base.

On Wednesday, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever called an emergency cabinet meeting to address the violations. It was then announced that stricter regulations would be introduced to stop drone interference at air bases and airports.

"I will present an order banning unauthorized drones in sensitive areas. There is an existing regulatory framework that can be used better," Communications Minister Jean-Luc Crucke said after the emergency meeting, according to Le Soir.
