A total of 240 million SEK will be distributed among the Red Cross, the UN's World Food Program, Operation Aid, UNICEF's child protection activities, and the organization Gen.Ukrainian.
The World Food Program runs a school feeding program that aims to distribute 240,000 meals to 12,000 children in frontline regions and provide schools with modern kitchen equipment.
Operation Aid's "Active Kids" project aims to provide 6,000 children near the front lines with access to sports, education and psychological support by 2026 to help them recover from difficult experiences.
The money for the "children's package" is taken from the development aid budget, where the government has previously announced that at least SEK 10 billion will go to Ukraine.
"We know that children are the hardest hit by the war and Russia's horrific attacks on infrastructure have made everyday essentials like hot food scarce. This is not only a necessary support package but also an investment in Ukraine's future," writes Minister of Development Assistance and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa in an email to TT.
