A British woman, accused of having deceived her son in the Netflix documentary "My Mother, the Con Artist" is being prosecuted by a court in Singapore for fraud.

In the documentary, which in English is called "Con mum", the British pastry chef Graham Hornigold is contacted by a woman who claims to be his mother, whom he has not had any contact with for 45 years.

Everything takes place during the pandemic when Hornigold, who is also a jury member in the British "Masterchef", is about to become a father for the first time. His mother claims that she is dying of cancer, an unknown daughter of the Sultan of Brunei and a millionaire. The son is naturally supposed to inherit her, but her assets are locked in a bank account in Switzerland.

In total, she defrauds Graham Hornigold and his closest family of 300,000 pounds, equivalent to almost four million Swedish kronor.

In documents that AFP has obtained from a court in Singapore, the woman is charged with five cases of fraud. She is currently in a hospital in Singapore and attended the trial via video link on Saturday.
