This is to "definitively neutralize the threat of an invasion" from the Iran-backed Hezbollah movement, Netanyahu said in a video statement during a situation assessment in northern Israel.
Netanyahu said Hezbollah still has "some capacity" to fire rockets at Israel, but that capacity has been weakened by Israel's attacks.
"What I discussed with the commanders here today are ways to eliminate this threat," Netanyahu said.
Hezbollah attacked Israel on March 2, drawing Lebanon into the war that has been raging in the region. Since then, more than 1,200 people have been killed and more than 3,500 injured in Israeli attacks, according to Lebanese health authorities.
