"The U.S. efforts ... improve security for all of us. They have created an opportunity to guarantee that Iran never gets nuclear weapons," Rutte said at a press conference ahead of tomorrow's defense ministers' meeting in Brussels.
The Secretary General also emphasizes that the U.S. troop withdrawal from Europe should not be seen as the U.S. "abandoning" Europe - but rather as proof that other NATO countries are now doing more.
"We see that Europe and Canada are ready, willing and able to do more," Rutte said.
The meeting in Brussels is a final stepping stone before the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, in early July.
