An AI-driven sell-off is hitting Swedish company Munters, whose shares plunged nearly 8 percent in early trading on Wednesday. The decline, in line with drops among competitors on Wall Street on Tuesday, follows tech giant Nvidia's launch of a new generation of chips that require less cooling.

Industrial cooling systems have been a niche boosted by investments in data centers and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. But with Nvidia's next-generation chip, dubbed Vera Rubin, the need for cooling systems could be radically reduced.

According to Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang, Nvidia's new Vera Rubin chip is twice as efficient as current cutting-edge technology in the field.

And yet, and this is the miracle, the air flowing through it - the airflow is almost the same - and the water used is 45 degrees Celsius, Jensen Huang said at an electronics show in Las Vegas on Tuesday, according to the television channel CNBC.

With that water temperature, no water cooling is needed for data centers, according to Jensen Huang.

"We're actually cooling this supercomputer with hot water. It's so incredibly efficient," he added.

Listed Munters sells climate systems to industries and commercial properties, including data centers, and to the manufacture of electric car batteries, pharmaceuticals and food production.
