The four sperm whales discovered on Friday are located on an island and an adjacent peninsula off the coast of Esbjerg. Their condition is still unknown, but at least one has shown signs of life. The beaches have been cordoned off for rescue operations.
A 13.7-meter-long sperm whale was found stranded and dead in northern Jutland on February 1. A few days later, another was found further south, near Esbjerg.
Sperm whales are the world's largest toothed whales. When a sperm whale washed up on shore in Denmark in 2016, dozens more were found on beaches in the UK and Germany, among other places.
