Norwegian police have been ordered to increase their presence in "relevant and vulnerable areas and objects" due to the car attack on a Christmas market in German Magdeburg on Friday.
The measure is intended as a preventive measure, writes Norwegian police chief Bjørn Eirik Vandvik in an email to the news agency NTB.
The police had, among other things, a patrol stationed at a Christmas market in Bergen.
Similar measures are being introduced in Austria, where the police have increased presence at Christmas markets.
Swedish police, however, have not taken any additional measures due to the attack in Magdeburg, says Emanuel Alvarez at the police's national media center to TT.
