A few more migrants are expected to return voluntarily after being deported, according to the Migration Agency. The forecast for the number of asylum seekers remains unchanged at the same time.

The Migration Agency is revising its forecast for the number of people expected to return voluntarily to their home country this year after being issued a decision on expulsion or deportation – from 8,800 in the July forecast to 9,500.

This applies to both asylum seekers and individuals who have applied for other residence permits, for example for work.

"It is part of our mission that more people who have received an expulsion decision return to their home country. It is important that more people follow their decision and return for the legitimacy of the system with regulated immigration", says Director-General Maria Mindhammar in a press release.

The total number of asylum seekers to Sweden this year is expected to be 6,500. This assessment is unchanged compared to the previous forecast.
