The duo Sander Silva and Victorjus have withdrawn from Melodi Grand Prix, Norway's selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, in protest against Israel being allowed to participate.

"We wish we could just be there to celebrate diversity, culture and the joy of music that MGP and Eurovision are meant to be, but it was impossible for us to do so this year," the group writes on Instagram.

Last week, the brother duo Ylvis also announced that they were dropping out, citing Israel's involvement.

"As unestablished artists, it is of course sad to miss such a great opportunity. At the same time, we have felt that there is a limit to how far we can go with our conscience intact," Sander Silva and Victorjus wrote.

However, 2009 Eurovision winner Alexander Rybak is on the Norwegian starting line.
