The Moderate Party want that persons who are convicted of stalking crimes should be sentenced to harder punishments.

A stalker gets away with a conditional sentence or a few months in prison at the same time as the victim often gets their entire life ruined or at least very limited. It is too cheap a price to ruin someone's life, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer to Expressen.

Strömmer has reacted to what has happened to the influencer Bianca Ingrosso and the ski star Frida Karlsson who have both been subjected to stalking.

The Moderate Party wants tougher penalties for stalking. A package has been developed that will be discussed with the parties. It is about, among other things, increased minimum penalties and that more actions can be counted as harassment.

Strömmer believes that he will get more parties to join the proposal.

I think that many at base will want to join in and help bring about such a change, he says to the magazine.
