The girl, who was 11 years old, was found at lunchtime on Sunday. The Norwegian police received help in the search from a vessel from the Coast Guard and it was the vessel that found her.
She was found at a depth of about 25 meters together with the steering cabin that was missing from the accident boat, writes the police on their website.
The boat accident occurred at 1 pm on Friday. A boat with seven people on board – a Swedish family with two children, two more Swedes and a fishing guide – capsized in Nappstraumen in Lofoten.
During the rescue operation, a Norwegian sea rescuer died.
On Friday and Saturday, an intense search effort was underway for the girl who was missing after the accident, but at 4 pm on Saturday, it was announced that the actual rescue operation had been completed. The work instead shifted to searching for a presumed deceased person.
The tourist boat capsized after a wave hit it.
As I have been explained, it was a large wave that came from behind which set speed on the boat. The boat then turned starboard and then capsized, said Jimmy Andersson, CEO of Nordic Sea Angling, to TT on Saturday.
The accident boat has been salvaged and towed into the harbor. Pictures showed that the steering cabin was missing from it.
The accident is being investigated by the police and the maritime directorate.
"It is important to investigate to get answers to what may have caused the boat to capsize", writes the Norwegian police.
