Mia Skäringer has in recent years returned to some of her classic characters, such as lonely Ann-Marie, the tattoo artist Tabita and the hairdresser Gulletussan. In addition, the last two seasons of the hit "Solsidan" have been recorded during the spring and summer.
But playing more drama has become more and more appealing. Even in "Diagnoses", there will be some humor, despite the heavy subject.
I have longed to not deliver so many one-liners. But drama without humor has never been particularly interesting to me, says Mia Skäringer.
In "Solsidan", which I also love, it's more "come up with as much fun as you can in as short a time as possible". Here, the funny things arise instead in the situations, with pauses, glances and silences.
Find each other
Her character in "Diagnoses", Bella, has just gotten a new job in an exclusive store. But then her world is turned upside down when her son Ludde gets an ADHD diagnosis.
At the same time, a new family is moving into the house, with mom Elliot (Siham Shurafa) whose daughter Majken has autism.
These are the conditions in the upcoming drama series, where the two mothers - despite being like night and day - become each other's great support in the chaos of everyday life.
It is also the case that Elliot probably has "a touch of ADHD", says Siham Shurafa.
Yes, although it is probably undiagnosed. There is also a difficult dynamic in that she has a child with a diagnosis and a son who ends up a bit in the background because of it. But somehow these women find each other, she says.
The son was investigated
Jessica Ericstam, who created the series and is one of the writers, began working on the idea when her own son was being investigated for ADHD a few years ago.
Every time I talked to someone, more stories came up. So the step to writing it down was not huge, she says.
I started writing about the comedy in it, the humor that exists at the same time. And at that time, I also called Mia, who I have worked with on "Solsidan".
"Diagnoses", in six episodes, is expected to premiere on SVT next autumn.
