The Norwegian crown princess Mette-Marit will be away from the public for most of October. The reason is that she will undergo a month's treatment for her lung disease, announces the Norwegian royal house.

In 2018, the royal family announced that Mette-Marit had been affected by a rare variant of lung fibrosis. In March this year, it was announced that the disease had worsened and that it affects her work.

According to plan, Mette-Marit will resume her public duties in November.

Lung fibrosis is a chronic disease that causes scar tissue to form in the lungs. The scarring causes coughing, fatigue, shortness of breath and recurring lung infections.
