Patrick Thoresen received a match penalty for a tackle on Daniel Muzito-Bagenda in the first period – a penalty that changed the match picture between AIK and Djurgården in the Hockey Allsvenskan final match three.
Now the decision comes that the match penalty is withdrawn. In a statement on the Hockey Allsvenskan website, it says that "with the support of rule 33.6, the game misconduct that Patrick Thoresen was sentenced to in tonight's match, final match 3 between AIK and Djurgårdens IF, is annulled”.
The Norwegian Thoresen was never reported to the disciplinary committee either, which is the most common procedure after a head tackle.
Djurgården led 2-0 in matches before the game and had the chance to go to 3-0.
Djurgården also led 2-0 early in the first period when Thoresen tackled Muzito-Bagenda. After a referee review, it was a match penalty and 5 plus 20 minutes.
In sudden death, Oscar Nord scored for AIK. The winning numbers were 4-3. Djurgården leads the match series 2-1.
