The day before the EU election, the Sweden Democrats are sending a mass SMS to an unknown number of phone numbers, writes Expressen.
"Don't let TV4's influence operation win the EU election. Vote for the Sweden Democrats tomorrow."
The sender of the SMS appears as only "SD" to those who receive the message. SD's press secretary, Oscar Cavalli-Björkman, confirms to TT that the party is behind the dispatch.
"TV4 has chosen to be an active participant in this election campaign by spreading misinformation about us. It is obvious that they are trying to sabotage the party and block our opportunities to talk about our politics," says Oscar Cavalli-Björkman in a written statement.
The SMS has, according to SD, gone out in the southern parts of Stockholm where the party believes TV4's segments have had the greatest impact.
SD made a similar dispatch in the final stretch of the 2022 election campaign, urging people in disadvantaged areas not to vote for the Social Democrats.
TV4 revealed in May that the Sweden Democrats had operated a number of anonymous accounts in social media and used them to create opinion and belittle both opponents and coalition partners in the Tidö agreement.
Even the Moderates have sent SMS to an unknown number of subscribers before the election. In it, the party's top candidate, Tomas Tobé, appears as the sender. The source of the SMS is also specified.
Social Democratic Party leader Magdalena Andersson is knocking on doors in places such as Upplands Väsby north of Stockholm. She comments on the Sweden Democrats' mass SMS that TV4's investigation of the party is a "influence operation."
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) attaches no great importance to SD's SMS.
