"This is an extensive and systematic crime where large quantities of tobacco have been handled, which also means large sums in lost tax. Therefore, it is important that we can now bring charges and let the court hear the case," says Louise Ahlmark, prosecutor at the Swedish Economic Crime Authority in a press release.
The indictment concerns more than 17 tons of smoking tobacco and over 2.1 million cigarettes with the intent to evade tobacco tax. The suspected tax loss is estimated to amount to at least SEK 47 million.
The main hearing begins in Skellefteå District Court on December 2.
