Kristersson voted at 1 p.m. in his home municipality of Strängnäs. He came with his family, including his dog Winston. He feels "good hope" about tonight's election results.
"It's a bit tense, of course. It's an important day, a solemn day. Today, the Swedish people decide Sweden's political future," he tells TT after voting.
Kristersson says he is not surprised by the Tidö parties' recovery in the opinion polls in the election run-up and believes they have gained a lot from the comparison between the blue-yellow and red-green teams.
"Dirty election campaign"
Social Democratic Party leader Magdalena Andersson also voted on election day. She thinks the election campaign has been “fantastically fun,” partly because of all the people she has met. But she also calls it dirty, and highlights, among other things, Saturday’s threat against Jonas Attenius, the chairman of the Gothenburg municipal board.
It has been a dirty election campaign with a lot of lies. Unfortunately, it is also an election campaign that both began and ended with the Sweden Democrats calling opponents traitors.
Even choices
In the latest opinion polls, the opposition's lead has shrunk, but Magdalena Andersson is not worried.
Swedish elections are usually close, this one will be too. Now it's up to the Swedish people to choose the direction for our country.
She says she is still prepared to call all parties except the Sweden Democrats as early as Sunday evening.
