The hunt for The Liberals' new party leader is in full swing since Johan Pehrson announced his resignation. Now, both The Liberal Youth Association (LUF) and The Liberal Students have backed climate and environment minister Romina Pourmokhtari as the person they believe is best suited to take over the role.
"We cannot afford to miss this opportunity. Romina is the person who could break The Liberals' downward trend in public opinion, give the party greater self-confidence and provide modern, liberal solutions to today's social problems," says LUF's chairman Anton Holmlund in a press release.
The chairman of The Liberal Students, Emil Carlsson, says in the press release that the party needs a reboot and emphasizes the importance of The Liberals' new party leader having a "clear liberal reform agenda and refusing to compromise on our fundamental values by sitting in government with SD".
