The electoral committee will present its proposal for a new party leader in the middle of this week, says Persson Skandevall. However, he does not want to say which day.
We are in the final phase of the process. That is all I can say.
He denies reports that have emerged about the process needing to be extended or paused.
Three pre-favourites – Climate and Environment Minister Romina Pourmokthari, Education Minister Lotta Edholm and party veteran Erik Ullenhag, who is currently the Consul General in New York – have, according to previous reports to the media, declined the assignment as the new L leader after Johan Pehrson. Two of those who are now being pointed out as potential leaders of the party are Minister for Gender Equality Nina Larsson and party secretary Simona Mohamsson.
When The Liberals' electoral committee has announced who they think should succeed Johan Pehrson, the new leader will be elected at the party's extra convened national meeting on June 24, during Almedalsveckan.
