Jakob Olofsgård writes in the message that Dagens Nyheter has taken part in that he will explain more later.
Olofsgård took over the post as party secretary last year, but is now leaving after barely a year. He gives notice on the same day as one of The Liberals' ministers, Minister for Gender Equality and Labour Market Paulina Brandberg, resigns as minister and leaves the government.
"The term of office is now entering a new phase, with an election campaign around the corner. Extensive work awaits, which a new party secretary should be given good opportunities to get into. Therefore, I have chosen to leave the post in good time before the election", Olofsgård writes in a comment to DN.
He further states that he will henceforth devote himself to social policy issues as a member of parliament.
In the evening, the head of the secretariat Oscar Wåglund Söderström also announced his resignation, which TV4 News was the first to report on.
In an email to Aftonbladet, Wåglund Söderström writes:
"I started as head of the parliamentary office and international secretary after the 2022 election. Earlier this spring, I decided to seek new opportunities, I'm leaving at the end of May - in good time before it's time to gear up the organization for the 2026 election. I will, of course, remain in the party, both at the local level and as part of our international work."
