Clashing over anti-Semitism: "But you too!"

The Centre Party is pressing the S leader Magdalena Andersson on questions about anti-Semitism within the left. "There is a raging fire of anti-Semitism in Magdalena Andersson's government base – put out that fire!" says KD leader Ebba Busch. Andersson counters that SD has obvious problems.

In recent weeks, several local representatives of the Left Party have been exposed for spreading anti-Semitic material and praising terrorist organizations.

SD leader Jimmie Åkesson demands an answer from the S leader in the first parliamentary debate of the autumn as to whether she can consider cooperating with parties where anti-Semitism occurs.

I do not accept anti-Semitism, wherever it appears, says Andersson and urges Åkesson to clean up in his own party first.

As an example, she takes a previous statement by Member of Parliament Björn Söder, now chairman of the Swedish OSCE delegation, who claimed that Jews are not Swedish.

It's like a pyromaniac asking me to improve fire safety, says Andersson.

Like at the daycare center

According to Åkesson, it's evasions. He thinks Andersson is behaving like he and his childhood friends did when they went to daycare.

You said "yes, but you too" and "he who said it was him".

KD leader Ebba Busch also attacks the S leader. She brings up that it took time for Magdalena Andersson to act when former S Member of Parliament Jamal El-Haj was accused of supporting Hamas.

Will it take half a year now for Magdalena Andersson to clean house and demand that the Left Party purge anti-Semitism? wonders Busch.

After the debate, KD leader Busch became upset when she was asked about anti-Semitism within SD.

What is your concrete question about anti-Semitism in the Sweden Democrats? I can answer what I think generally about my party, about all parties, but now we have several cases in Magdalena Andersson's government base with current anti-Semitism that she doesn't purge. And we start talking about the Sweden Democrats again, said Busch.

"Has acted"

V leader Nooshi Dadgostar claims that she has acted "immediately" against anti-Semitism in the party.

As soon as this happened, processes were opened for these individuals who shared inappropriate things, to see if it was sincerely meant. For anti-Semites, there is no place in the Left Party.

Exclusion proceedings have been initiated against one person. When asked why the others are still there, she replies:

It's not certain that they will be, we'll have to look at that.

Magdalena Andersson says it's important to get a strong response from V.

Are you satisfied with how Nooshi Dadgostar has handled the issue?

Now the case is not fully handled, but it's naturally about how you continue to work, says she.
