Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) does not want to see any temporary halt to the so-called teenage expulsions. "No. We will not make any more strange exceptions or pauses now," he tells journalists in the Riksdag.

Ulf Kristersson refers to an investigation that looks at family immigration in general and in which the issue of a "valve" will also be discussed.

We will come back. We are looking at some cases that I understand are painful, but at the same time, I think one should be careful about drawing too far-reaching conclusions from individual cases.

The issue of young people who grew up in Sweden and are threatened with deportation when they turn 18 has become a political hot potato. The deportations can happen because the possibility of exceptions for particularly painful cases - a "valve" - has been abolished in connection with extensions of residence permits.

Kristersson's government colleague, the Liberals, want to urgently introduce a "valve," while the Social Democrats want to see a temporary halt to deportations until the legal situation is clarified. MPs from V and C want to change the law.
