It was already clear on Monday that there would be a shake-up within the Sweden Democrats over which members would sit on the Riksdag (the Swedish parliament)'s various committees.

For example, Sweden Democrat Martin Kinnunen will become the party's lead member on the Committee on Industry and Trade, where Tobias Andersson has been chair for the past four years. Andersson will instead join the Committee on Education.

The group leadership wants to form a new team. That's understandable, Kinnunen tells journalists in the Riksdag.

Stegrud takes over

According to him, this probably means that "some are satisfied and others are dissatisfied."

That's always the case when you get new tasks at work. I don't think it's that dramatic.

Sweden Democrat Jessica Stegrud will also take over as the party's spokesperson on migration policy, a role previously held by Ludvig Aspling. Stegrud will also take a seat on the Committee on Social Insurance.

She says she was surprised when she was asked.

I am very humbled by this role, but it feels very good, she says.

Carvalho to chair committee

Sweden Democrat Oscar Sjöstedt, who previously sat on the Committee on Finance, will take over as chair of the Committee on the Constitution (KU).

The red-green parties have formed a so-called cartel in the Riksdag, giving them a majority on all committees.

According to the parties, this also means that the red-green side will chair eight committees as well as the EU Committee.

Meanwhile, the Social Democrats have confirmed that Teresa Carvalho will chair the Committee on Justice, Morgan Johansson the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Mikael Damberg the Committee on Finance.

These appointments may change when new ministers are appointed.
