The clubs received the message in mid-July that they do not meet the requirements to be granted an elite license by the association. Both KB65 and Alvesta appealed the decision.
Now, the association's appeals committee announces that the relegation stands.
"The appealing associations have not shown that the new documents sent to the Appeals Committee could not have been presented earlier. These documents are therefore not allowed to be invoked", the ice hockey association writes in a press release.
Alvesta SK criticizes the decision in a statement.
"If the goal is to create stability in Swedish ice hockey, the Swedish Ice Hockey Association should dare to ask itself: Is it achieved through today's working method? Or does one instead risk knocking the legs out from under associations that act responsibly, long-term and with full transparency?"
KB65 also questions the association's requirements.
"Reasonably, it (the license requirement) should aim for the associations in Hockeyettan and higher series to have a sound economy, but based on the license committee's work and decision, the question is whether the license requirement is rather a matter of measuring bureaucracy", the club writes on its website.
The association's appeals committee's decision can be appealed to the Swedish Sports Confederation.
Kungälvs IK and Norrtälje IK have been offered the relegated clubs' places in Hockeyettan, and accepted. Now, Kungälv and Norrtälje will go through the same license review.
