There she writes about the oppression of Sami culture, identity and language and the jury calls the book a "furious and rebellious novel, which challenges the frameworks for what literature can be"
Author Kathrine Nedrejord is a Sami with roots in Kjøllefjord in Finnmark. She made her debut in 2010 with the novel "Transitt" and has, among other things, written the novel "Forbryter og straff" (2022), which was nominated for the Nordic Council's Literature Prize.
According to the jury, the book is a "declaration of love to generations of women who have defied experiences of oppression and marginalization".
Previous year's winners include, among others, Theis Ørntoft, Jan Grue, Asta Olivia Nordenhof, Amanda Svensson and Karolina Ramqvist.
