Joelsson, 27, had over 100 matches behind him in Allsvenskan and Superettan when he chose to move from Helsingborg to Solna before this season.
When national team goalkeeper Nordfeldt felt too unwell to play, it was only for Joelsson to quickly read up a bit extra on Malmö FF's all offensive threats.
They are a few, both on the pitch and on Allsvenskan's sharpest bench.
"We're doing well"
But MFF coach Henrik Rydström didn't get out particularly much of his gold team on the national arena's hybrid grass. According to Max's statistics, MFF didn't have a shot on goal during the match.
Kalle Joelsson's analysis after his first Allsvenskan half in AIK:
We're doing well and keeping them away from dangerous situations.
John Guidetti made his first start for the season – and it almost became a success for the attack veteran. The finish on Bersant Celina's headed pass went just outside.
I'm grieving, it could have gone in. I think we're the better team from minute 1 to 94. We meet a skilled Malmö but we stand up well today. We should have won this match, says Guidetti who turns 33 on Tuesday.
A point was a small consolation when he could have celebrated three as matchwinner.
Isaac Kiese Thelin and Sead Haksabanovic came in to lift MFF forward and shortly afterwards also Arnor Sigurdsson.
The intended effect was absent.
Clean on the stands
No goals were offered at Strawberry arena and – judging by the TV images – neither were any thrown objects.
Someone managed to hit assistant referee Per Rehnlund with a glass bottle in AIK's premiere against IFK Norrköping.
That went too far, thought both AIK and its support groups. The latter demanded order in the ranks and the club set up extra nets against some stand sections.
The evening's only Allsvenskan goal came at Örjans vall. In the fourth added minute, 17-year-old Bleon Kurtulus scored 1–0 for Halmstad against Öster, incidentally Halmstad's first goal for the season.
