The editor-in-chief of the newspaper ETC, Andreas Gustavsson, has published a post on X, and writes: "A greeting from Joakim Medin to all of you".

The image features a handwritten note that reads "Journalism is not a crime, not in any country".

Medin signs with his name, Silivri Prison, and the current date, April 1.

Joakim Medin was transferred to the high-security prison Marmara in Silivri, Turkey, on Sunday. Medin's lawyer has now been able to meet with him, reports Dagens ETC. Through the lawyer, he was able to send the handwritten message.

Today, the lawyer has finally been able to meet with Joakim Medin at the new prison, Silivri. He was in good spirits. He is getting enough food, he can exercise, there is a garden. He is sitting in isolation but can still talk to other prisoners through the bars. He still misses a book to read, but he will get one, says Dagens ETC's editor-in-chief Andreas Gustavsson after contact with Medin's lawyer to the newspaper.

Medin had traveled to Turkey to cover the democracy protests in the country that broke out after the opposition's leading candidate, Istanbul's mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, was imprisoned.

Medin is accused of insulting Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and of being a member of a terrorist organization.
