Israel is expected to react to Hamas' latest response to the proposal for a 60-day ceasefire.
"In light of the response Hamas came up with this morning, a decision has been made to bring home the delegation to continue negotiations in Israel. We appreciate the efforts of the mediators Qatar and Egypt and the efforts of the (US) envoy (Steve) Witkoff to achieve a breakthrough in the talks", reads a statement from Benjamin Netanyahu's office.
Netanyahu says in a speech later that they are working to reach another agreement to free the hostages.
-But if Hamas interprets our willingness to reach an agreement as weakness ... they have gravely mistaken themselves, he adds.
The US is also calling home its delegation with the motivation that Hamas "shows a lack of interest in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza", announces the US envoy.
-We will now consider alternatives to bring home the hostages and try to create a more stable environment for the population of Gaza, says Steve Witkoff.
The indirect talks have been going on for two weeks without any breakthrough.
Terror-stamped Hamas' response is expected to contain proposals for amendments to the agreement related to the import of humanitarian aid to Gaza, Israel's withdrawal of forces and guarantees to secure a lasting end to the war.
