We will not conclude any ceasefire, we will not ease off the gas pedal and we will not allow any agreement that does not include achieving our war goals, says Katz, who took office last week.

We will continue to strike against Hezbollah everywhere, he says further.

Syrian state media reports on Wednesday that Israel has carried out an air raid near the border with Lebanon, a known stronghold of Hezbollah.

At least 15 people are reported to have been injured in the attacks, but the figure has not been confirmed by the authorities. According to a military source at the state-controlled news agency Sana, the attacks caused "significant damage" to, among other things, infrastructure.

Eight dead in Aramoun

At least eight people were killed and several injured in an Israeli attack on an apartment building in the city of Aramoun, south of Beirut, on Wednesday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Israel did not issue a warning before the attack, and it is still unclear what the target was. Israel has not yet commented on the incident.

Earlier, on Wednesday morning, Israel issued a warning for Beirut's southern suburbs - the third in 24 hours. Shortly afterwards, southern Beirut was attacked again.

Israel carried out another air strike on Beirut's southern suburbs on Wednesday evening. The attack was preceded by an evacuation order, according to the state-controlled Lebanese news agency NNA.

Killed Israeli soldiers

Six Israeli soldiers have been killed in southern Lebanon, according to Israel's military. In total, 47 Israeli soldiers have now fallen during the invasion of Lebanon, which began on September 30.

During the day, warning sirens have sounded over northern and central Israel, according to the military, which reports that it has shot down five projectiles fired from Lebanon.

The Iran-backed Shia militia confirms that it has fired drones and ballistic missiles at Israel on Wednesday.

Corrected: In an earlier version of the text, an incorrect death toll was stated.
