FSE, with the support of the consumer organization Euroconsumers, has filed a complaint with the European Commission over the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)'s high ticket prices for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

"FIFA has a monopoly on ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup and has used that power to impose conditions on fans that would never be acceptable in a competitive market," writes FSE.

Among other things, they point out that ticket prices for this summer's final are significantly higher than the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar and the 2024 European Championship final in Germany.

This summer's World Cup is the first with 48 nations, and 104 matches will be played during the championship from June 11 to July 19.
