The men were convicted of manufacturing weapons and for attacks on civilians, buildings and authorities, according to the court. Both were members of the oppositional People's Mujahedin, an organization that is terrorist-stamped in Iran.
The organization's Maryam Rajavi condemns the executions in a post on X as a "brutal crime" and urges the outside world to act against Iran.
"It's time for concrete and effective measures against a regime that is built on executions and torture", writes Rajavi.
Amnesty International has also condemned the legal process against the men, who according to sources for the human rights organization were subjected to torture during captivity and were interrogated without lawyers. The death penalty is said to have been imposed after a trial that lasted only five minutes.
Iran is the country in the world that carries out the most executions in the world, after China, according to Amnesty International. Usually it is done by hanging at dawn.
