After a 66th place in the sprint in Hochfilzen, the biathlon star decided together with the national team management that she would skip the rest of the competitions before Christmas and instead go home and rest and train.
She was in top form before she got sick just before the season started. Hanna Öberg was back at the World Cup premiere in Kontiolahti, but competition-wise it didn't go as she hoped. She simply didn't keep up on the ski track.
The reason was found, for example, that the recovery wasn't as usual, especially in Hochfilzen.
Now it's completely normal. Those things have now become good, there's a clear difference. It was the recovery that was very bad when I tried to compete.
"Good plan ahead"
She says it was toughest when she didn't know what to do about her bad results.
I've still kept myself positive and I have a good plan ahead.
During the extended Christmas break, she's got in some good training, she thinks.
I've been able to increase the amount of training and intensity and have trained with the other girls to get a sense of how I stand, she says.
But I haven't raced, that's where the uncertainty lies. I'll probably be a little nervous tomorrow because I need to find the right feeling for how to approach the race.
Plenty of time until the World Championship
She's not worried about the World Championship, which is over a month away.
There's plenty of time. I think rather that my form will improve from here, I believe in a positive spiral towards the World Championship, that it will get better and better.
In Oberhof this week, there's a sprint on Thursday followed by a pursuit on Saturday and a single mixed relay and mixed relay on Sunday.
