The mistake was made during a wild boar hunt on Hallandåsen in November last year.
The prosecutor considered that the man also exposed the dog's owner to danger, but he was acquitted of the charge of causing danger to another, reports Hallandsposten .
However, the court believes that the fatal shot at the hunting dog was an expression of gross negligence and establishes that the man was indifferent to the risk that he was shooting at something other than a wild boar.
"Anyone who handles a hunting weapon must make sure of what he or she is shooting at before firing," the district court writes in the ruling.
