The image, which FIFA does not approve, depicts the Bataille de Vertières, the final battle for Haiti's independence in 1803.
"The design was intended as a tribute to the men and women who contribute to Haiti's future every day and was not intended as a political statement. However, FIFA felt that certain visual elements could be interpreted differently," wrote shirt manufacturer Saeta on Instagram.
Haiti begins its first World Cup finals in 52 years against Scotland in Boston on Sunday night, local time in Sweden.
